Residents of Pimpri and Chinchwad area are getting inadequate water for last three days owing to different problems with the civic water supply system. “We expect the situation will get back to normalcy by Thursday. On Monday afternoon, a problem cropped up in the incoming power feeder at the raw water centre at Ravet. The problem was fixed within seven hours; still normal water supply was affected. Furthermore, a major leakage on the Krishnagar water pipeline in Sector 23was also reported, which was able to be plugged on late Wednesday evening,” said Pravin Tupe, joint city engineer of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).
“Electricity cables at the Ravet centre were broken due to the ongoing repair work of a drainage pipeline. This was the reason why the evening water supply got affected in the entire Pimpri-Chinchwad Township from Monday,” said a civic official at the water supply department said
The official also went on to inform that water supply to Kharalwadi, Morwadi, Kasarwadi, Ajmera colony and some areas of Pradhikaran had been affected owing to a pipeline leakage at Nigdi. The leakage has been plugged, and it is expected that by Thursday morning, the water supply should be back to normal.
Those residing in the affected areas faced many problems and had to rely on tankers to get water.
